Franziska Schreiber

Franziska Schreiber is a Senior Associate at adelphi and an expert in urban development working on transformation in cities at the national and international level. Franziska is working on visions for the cities of tomorrow, exploring new approaches to needs-based and public welfare-oriented urban development, and helping municipalities advance their transformation pathways. She combines her scientific expertise with a broad, often unconventional mix of methods and applied policy consultation.

Franziska is adept at designing, coordinating and implementing complex research and consulting projects. She has worked for clients such as the Cities Alliance, UNESCO, federal ministries, associations and foundations. Franziska has in-depth knowledge of the development and facilitation of dialogue formats, the transfer of knowledge for policy makers, and qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Franziska gained practical experience in Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom and India.

She last worked on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community (BMI), developing recommendations to advance the National Urban Development Policy in Germany as well as the Leipzig Charter and the Urban Agenda for the EU under the German EU Council Presidency in 2020. Franziska has worked with numerous German and European municipalities and stakeholders from academia and civil society on how to implement global agenda processes with the help of the National Urban Development Policy and municipal planning. She is also developing visions for future coexistence in cities using new sensory approaches and methods from future research.

Before joining adelphi, Franziska worked at the international city network ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability in the area of the "Resilient City". She also worked at various urban research institutes in Germany and abroad, including the German Institute of Urban Affairs (Difu), the department of Urban and Regional Sociology at the Humboldt-Universität Berlin and the Urban Design Research Institute in Mumbai, India. As co-founder of "Spiel den Kiez," she worked with simulation games as a tool for participatory urban planning.

Franziska holds a Masters in Urban Studies from the University College London (UCL), UK. Previously, she studied social science and geography at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
