Andreas Weber is a Senior Manager Energy at adelphi in the areas of on energy management and energy technology, with a special focus on retail and wholesale trade, and tourism. Creating dialogue and motivation are critical to his work. Through his considerable expertise and expansive network, Andreas brings together economic, political and civil society actors and further motivates businesses to participate in climate action through highlighting the potential of climate protection activities. As such, he is implementing new steps and generating momentum for sustainability and climate protection.
Andreas Weber has accumulated more than thirteen years of work experience in the energy sector. Thus, he is highly skilled in the design and implementation of complex research and consulting projects; the development of strategies in the context of developing energy systems; the implementation of stakeholder dialogues; as well as the realisation of information sharing and motivation tools. Due to his extensive expertise, he manages national and European projects and advises federal and state ministries in Germany and Switzerland.
On behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU, Andreas is leading the “Climate Protection Policy Offensive“ for the Trade Association Germany (HDE). In particular, Andreas is tasked with organising those elements of the campaign pertaining to information, motivation, and networking. His substantial experience is further integrated into other energy efficiency projects. For instance, Andreas is working with the Fraunhofer ISE and other partners on the project synGHD – Synthetic Load Profiles for an Efficient Energy Supply Planning in Non-Residential Buildings. Additionally, he is investigating sustainability criteria in the tourism sector for the Federal Environment Agency.
Before commencing his position at adelphi, Andreas Weber was a Project Manager for the German Energy Agency GmbH (dena) in the area of energy systems and services. He was responsible for the topic ‘energy storage units’. Specifically, Andreas was tasked with leading the ‘Power to Gas’ strategy platform and the platform for pumped-storage plants. This role entailed networking with relevant stakeholders, giving lectures and presentations, as well as moderating and leading working groups. He was further responsible for the design and development of political statements and recommendations for action. Additionally, Andreas compiled the requirements of a scenario framework for electricity grid planning in Switzerland and was responsible for evaluating national and European legislative processes.
Previously, Andreas was a Project Coordinator at the Leipzig Institute for Energy (IE Leipzig) and headed their Berlin Office. At IE Leipzig, Andreas was responsible for the research clusters supply reliability, energy price trends, and for forecasting the development of renewable energy. Thus, he took part in developing forecasting models and expanded municipal power- and climate concepts for the German cities of Wiesbaden and Würzburg.
Andreas completed his diploma studies in Industrial Engineering in Jena. He specialised in the energy sector, environmental and process industries, environmental and energy management, the circular economy, as well as conventional and renewable energies throughout his studies.
