Water scarcity and the increasing pressures on water by rising population growth in arid and semi-arid areas require innovative and sustainable solutions of water management. Along with the energy-intensive production of salt water, increased efforts for the treatment of waste water and sewage for the limited use in agriculture is becoming more important. One of the weak points for the re-use of local waste water for agriculture is the lack of information among groups of potential users about the process and the regulations for reuse of waste water. adelphi is entrusted with the task, to sketch practical guidelines for the use of processed clean waste water in selected sectors and to adapt these to given political-administrative as well as economic conditions in Palestine. In the context of this project, the drafts of the guidelines were discussed and coordinated with national experts in Palestine and Germany through various workshops and working groups.
