adelphi worked in conjunction with the University of Balamand in Lebanon and its partners from Italy and Greece to improve the coast of Northern Lebanon. The project was initiated by the Integrated Management of East Mediterranean Coastline (IMAC) and it aimed to establish the process of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) as a tool to develop a structural strategy in cooperation with local stakeholders so to manage Lebanon’s coast.
In order to establish ICZM in the target area, the project’s purpose was to provide an action plan for the adoption of a cycle management process that includes the establishment of goals, the development of a strategy, the implementation of activities, as well as continuous evaluation and adaptation of the process. IMAC's main activities include designing as a cycle process, which was planned to run once during the project’s three year life-span, but offers continuity and the ability to adopt in other regions in Lebanon and the Mediterranean.
